Husky dogs are mysterious creatures. Not only are they always hyper, they appreciate life for what it is and love to please their masters for a little praise. In short, they are like children - so we have to treat them like one. Huskies are very hyper and active - some of the common characteristics you'll find in a small child. Just like children, these dogs don't always know what's right and wrong. We have to let them know that it's not OK to do something.

But how can we let our husky know that we don't approve something? Well, since dogs are different from children in terms of understanding, we have to think like a dog. For example, dogs can't recall past events - so if you attempt to punish your husky dog for something that has happened before he will stare with a blank face and confusion. Dogs can only understand what's happening NOW, not what happened a minute ago, an hour ago, or a day ago.

This is why it's important to catch our husky dog's bad behavior in the act. If we cannot catch him in the act and give him a strong disapproval then your dog won't be able to relate your unhappiness to anything that makes sense. As many husky dog owners punish their dogs AFTER the incident has occurred, the dog starts to feel guilty - walking around with their faces down all the time - thinking that its own existence is the reason you're unhappy.

A better proven method to train dogs is using positive reinforcement. Anytime your husky dog does something that you approve of, praise him lots! Don't underestimate what huskies are willing to do for some praise. Their sole purpose is to satisfy you - they just want to know exactly what you're looking from them.
