Housebreaking your husky puppy is one of the most important things you must do after adoption. Husky puppies won't be able to control their bladder until at least 12 weeks of age so you must start housebreaking your pup at the age of 8 weeks old. The training process can take a little bit of your time as you have to monitor your puppy to make sure that you can catch him in the act of peeing or pooping in the house.

However, pointing to the poop and yelling/slapping your puppy will not register "pooping on the floor in the house on that carpet is making my owner upset", instead, your husky will register "poop is trouble". So next time your husky puppy will go to the bathroom outside, or anywhere else for that matter, it will feel guilt as it has learned that poop means I'm about to get in trouble.

That's why you have to catch your puppy doing it in the act so that you can change the behavior right away! Bring your puppy outside, let him finish the process and give lots of praise and treats after he successfully did it. This is a very important step in housebreaking your puppy, particularly giving your puppy enough praise and approval where your husky should go to the bathroom. After some time your husky puppy will come to you whenever he or she wants to go to the bathroom - or simply stand at the door because they know that pooping or peeing in the house means trouble, but pooping and peeing outside means praise and treats. Even a dog is smart enough to figure that one out.
